Settings

The Settings page is the main interface for configuring the system, including management of user authentication, security settings, time zones, and appearance customization. This page allows users to adjust the system's configuration for improved performance, security, and user experience.

Overview

Thumb

Settings are divided into three tabs, each focusing on a specific area of settings:

  • Identity Settings: Manage user authentication, password policies, and security protocols.
  • Time Zone Settings: Set the system's time zone to ensure correct scheduling and log timestamps.
  • Appearance Settings: Customize the visual aspects of the site, including logos and themes.

Identity Settings

In the Identity Settings, users can manage authentication settings and ensure proper system security.

General

Self-registration: Enables users to create their own accounts by registering with required information. This setting allows new users to click "Registration," fill in the details, and create an account.

User settings

Thumb

Allow users to modify their usernames or contact emails. This flexibility helps users keep their information up-to-date and relevant.

Sign in settings

Thumb

Specify requirements for user sign-in authentication.

  • Enable 2FA: Controls whether the user can enable two-factor authentication (2FA), adding an extra layer of security to the sign-in process.
  • Enable password: Determines whether users can log in using a password, which must be configured if enabled.

2FA Settings

Thumb

This section appears only if Enable 2FA is enabled in the Sign-in Settings.

2FA Notification Type: Allows users to select their preferred 2FA notification method during login or self-registration. Options include:

  • SMS
  • Email
  • SMS and Email combined

The user must enter a confirmation code sent via the selected method to complete the login or registration process.

Password Settings

Thumb

Define password requirements including minimum length and specific character types (e.g., numbers, special characters) to ensure strong and secure user passwords:

  • Required length: Specifies the minimum length a password must have.
  • Required unique characters number: The minimum number of unique characters a password must contain.
  • Required non-alphanumeric character: Checkbox indicating if passwords must contain at least one non-alphanumeric character (e.g., !, @, #).
  • Required lower case character: Checkbox specifying if passwords must contain at least one lowercase ASCII character.
  • Required upper case character: Checkbox indicating if passwords must contain at least one uppercase ASCII character.
  • Required digit: Checkbox determining if passwords must include at least one digit.

Password renew settings

Thumb

Set rules for how frequently users must renew passwords, ensuring that passwords are regularly updated to minimize the risk of unauthorized access:

  • Force users to periodically change password: Checkbox to enforce mandatory password changes after a specified period.
  • Password change period (days): Defines how many days a user's password is valid before requiring a change.

Lockout settings

Thumb

Configure the behavior when users exceed a certain number of failed login attempts. Options include:

  • New User Lockout: Control whether newly created accounts are subject to lockout.
  • Duration: Specify the length of time (in seconds) a user is locked out after exceeding login attempt limits.
  • Max failed access attempts: Define how many failed attempts trigger a lockout.

Time Zone Settings

Thumb

Configure the system's time zone to ensure that all logs, schedules, and actions align with the appropriate local time. This is essential for systems used across multiple geographic locations.

Appearance Settings

Thumb

Customize the visual identity of the site by managing logos and icons for both dark and light themes. This ensures consistent branding across different UI modes.
